Cows & Carbon: What’s there to know?
June 29, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The workshop will be presented by Western Sustainability Exchange (WSE), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Native, a public benefit corporation. Topics to be discussed include soil health, grazing management, carbon markets, carbon sequestration, and the Northern Plains Regenerative Grazing Program. Individuals from each organization will be present to discuss the world of cows and carbon while sharing their expertise. Local producers who are active in the carbon market and regenerative ranching will also be present to share their stories.
By working alongside ranchers, businesses, and organizations, WSE helps to balance the health of the soil, water, climate, and wildlife habitat while increasing ranch profitability. Through this work, WSE strengthens the connections between the stewardship of landowners, the quality of our natural resources, and the availability of healthy local food.
NRCS is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture that provides technical assistance to farmers and other private landowners and managers. NRCS’s programs help people reduce soil erosion, enhance water supplies, improve water quality, increase wildlife habitat, and reduce damages caused by floods and other natural disasters.
Native, a Public Benefit Corporation and certified B Corp, was founded in 2000. Native drives upfront catalytic investment in new community-level projects, delivering carbon and biodiversity benefits that couldn’t otherwise happen.
