Serving Northeast Montana Since 1990
Great Northern Development Corporation is a Certified Regional Development Corporation serving a six-county region of northeast Montana — Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, Roosevelt, Garfield, and McCone.
We're also designated by the U.S. Economic Development Administration as an Economic Development District for the same region, which means the work we do here is federally recognized and regionally coordinated. What that means in practice: we're the organization that shows up when a small business needs financing, when a town needs help writing a grant, when an ag producer wants to develop a new product, or when a community is staring down a contaminated property and doesn't know where to start.
GNDC exists to build economic resilience across northeast Montana — connecting entrepreneurs, communities, and organizations with the resources, financing, and expertise they need to grow. We don't create dependency. We build capacity. The goal is always to equip people and communities to stand on their own.
GNDC is governed by a Board of Directors composed of a minimum of 15 members representing the counties, cities, tribal governments, and local development corporations within our region. Board members are appointed by the communities they represent.

As a designated Economic Development District, GNDC maintains a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy — a federally recognized planning document that tracks economic development needs across the region and guides investment in infrastructure, technical assistance, and planning projects. Communities in our region need to be aligned with the CEDS to qualify for EDA assistance.
